The Renewable Energy Development Centre or Centre de Développement des Energies Renouvelables (CDER ) is a government-funded research institution, under the administrative authority of the Algerian’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. With more than 770 employees, CDER is a research centre of excellence in renewable energy and one of the biggest R&D institution in Algeria. Founded in 1982 and reorganized in 1988 by governmental decree, CDER conducts research and development in the fields of renewable energy. CDER carries out application oriented research and collaborates closely with universities and industries. Its activities include national and international research projects in renewable energy. It also supports the promotion of renewable energy technologies and assists political decision-makers through scientific consultancy. CDER is globally active in all fields of renewable energy but focuses on materials, components, processes and systems for photovoltaic , solar, and wind energy. In addition, CDER develops green processes for production of energy from biological sources.
